Monday July 21st Update

Just received my laptop back from a check-up and it is good to be writing these myself again. Thanks to all who prayed for the recent shunt setting. I was grateful to get to the Dr.’s office for the procedure. The office is 45 minutes from our house – given that and the usual 1 hour time it takes for the procedure and you have quite an outing. This was the first time for such a long outing since the surgery. Carol set up the back seat with all kinds of pillows so that I could lay down which helped tremendously. As many of you know, it takes a few days to see if the shunt setting is right – but so far things feel O.K. so we are hopeful.

Please also pray for pain reduction as there are many areas that seem to be increasing in pain. And pray for increased mobility. A Physical Therapist is coming to our home twice a week.

A quick story. The Dr.’s office is near the Plaza district. For those who are not familiar with Kansas City, the Plaza is a 5 block area that is filled with trendy shops, good places to eat, beautiful landscaping, statues and fountains. As we were driving through, we passed by one of my favorite fountains and I told Carol to stop the car. She helped me out and I used my walker but nevertheless we stood beside the fountain –and snuck in a quick kiss. Our first romantic minute in months! As I crawled back into the car and laid in the back I thought – anyone driving by who saw this short, thin, bent figure in sweats with a walker getting kissed by this beautiful blond in her sunglasses and cute summer outfit must have thought – ‘That little guy must be loaded – he must have a lot of money!”

Thank you all so much - we need your prayers and appreciate them!!
